The inception of Meen presents a carefully crafted balance between two iconic, vastly contrasting typefaces. This idea was powered by the use of Artificial Intelligence, in a process to define a new ‘stylistic mean’.
These Al-generated draft estimations provided a consistent conceptual and visual foundation for the subsequent typographic design work, populating possibilities inside a new collaborative scheme.
The evolution from Al’s initial sketches to the final introduction of Meen was a nuanced process, filled with lots of design decisions. The goal was to weave in the playful spirit, typical of comic/script typefaces into the logic of modern grotesque typefaces.
This synthesis resulted in a fresh and intriguing system that retains its rich contrasting lineage while infusing distinct design features into it. These can be identified in the elongated curves of letters like ‘a’, ‘m’, ‘n’, and ‘h’, the angular tension apparent in ‘o’, ‘b’, ‘q’, and others, along with the detailed focus on the terminal sections of characters such as ‘a’, ‘e’, ‘f’, and more.
